ChatGPT (beta)

Connect ChatGPT (beta)

ChatGPT can use custom MCP servers in developer mode. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan and, on workspace plans, on what your admin allows. OpenAI moves these menus often: if a label below doesn't match, search OpenAI's help center for developer mode and custom connectors.

Add Octopus

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Back in Apps & Connectors, click Create.
  3. Fill in:
    • Name: Octopus
    • MCP server URL: https://mcp.octopus-brain.com/mcp
    • Authentication: OAuth
  4. Confirm. ChatGPT opens octopus-brain.com: sign in, choose the teamspace and click Allow.

Use it in a chat

Start a new chat, turn on developer mode for it and select Octopus among the tools. ChatGPT asks you to confirm before any action that changes data.

Add your documents to a project

ChatGPT doesn't pass the files you attach in a chat on to Octopus. Ask it to add files to a project, for example “I want to add files to the Acme project”: Octopus answers with an upload link where you drop your files or a whole folder. You can also open octopus-brain.com/upload directly, then choose the teamspace and the project. Up to 2 GB per file, and a folder keeps its structure.

Good to know

  • ChatGPT supports OAuth only: personal keys and custom headers don't work there.
  • Developer mode is meant for connectors you trust. Octopus only acts with your role, in the teamspace you chose.
  • To disconnect, delete the connector in ChatGPT's settings and disconnect it at octopus-brain.com/account.
